2. In the wake of recent instances of sexual abuse of children, the matter has been

examined with the help of professionals and experts on the subject, with a view to take immediate necessary steps to save the children against such menace. During the deliberations it has been observed that no measure could be effective without the active engagement of teachers, parents and the school councils/local community. In this context some reading material is attached, which contains certain useful tips for teachers and parents for creating an awareness amongst them to achieve the objective of child protection.

3. You are, therefore, requested to issue suitable instructions to all head of

institutions/schools under your control to take immediate necessary action to ensure holding of regular monthly parent-teacher meetings and during such meetings, morning assembly/class sessions and tutorial classes, the attached material could be used to sensitize the parents and students in an appropriate manner. In this connection to begin with an emergent joint meeting of parents shall be held with the help of School Councils within two days of receipt of t letter in every school.
