IN-SERVICE PROMOTION AS EST WORD “PROMOTION” MAY BE REFLECTED IN ORDERS OF PROMOTES

Subject: IN-SERVICE PROMOTION OF PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS AS
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS

I am directed to refer to the subject cited above.

2. I am further directed to intimate that at present Punjab School Education Department (School Education) Service Rules, 2014 are in vogue. As per Rules ibid the criteria for appointment against the posts of ESTs is as under: 

i.        50% by initial recruitment:
          c) 60% for the posts of EST (Science & Math); and
          d) 40% for the posts of EST (Arts); and
ii)  50% by promotion on the basis of seniority-cum-fitness;
           c) 60% for the posts cf EST (Arts); and
          d) 40% for the posts of EST (Science & Match) from amongst Primary School Teachers.

3. It has been observed that in few districts upon promotion as ESTs, in the promotion order of PSTs the word “appointed” instead of “promotion” is used, which causes financial issues to the PSTs.

4. In view of above, it is desired by the Competent Authority that in future upon in-service promotion as ESTs, the word “Promotion” may be reflected in the orders of the promotees.
